I am absolutely thrilled and personally touched to work on this inspiring theme with Anne Hamilton, which has released my creative spirit like never before.
In the Cavernoma on My Mind -garden we have named areas which are used to describe the feelings of the cavernoma patients, like Fragility of Life, Unconditional Love and Fresh Start.
We want to raise awareness to this rare neurological condition globally and to take visitors on a sensory journey depicting the daily symptoms cavernoma patients live with
About Taina
Taina is an environmental biologist, landscape designer, horticulturist and researcher in the Fifth Dimension – Green Roofs in Urban Areasresearch group of the University of Helsinki. She holds a BSc in Environmental Biology and a Masters degree in Environmental Change and Policy from the University of Helsinki. Her research concentrates particularly on the environmental change and policy with regard to green roofs in urban areas. She is currently working as chairperson on the Green Roof Strategy of the City of Vantaa, Finland’s fourth largest city, located in the greater Helsinki region.
Taina is considered a leading pioneer in Finland on green roofs, and she takes pride in the work in this field. She sees it as improving the quality of our lives but also as an absolute necessity in the face of the megatrend of urbanisation, with a view of preserving and supporting the biodiversity our natural environment…
History of Roslings
The Roslings estate is situated in the cultural scenery of Särkilahti Bay on the Gulf of Finland. The timber-framed buildings are originally of a village ‘folk school’, in which the teacher lived and which was drawn by architect Yrjö Sadeniemi and erected around 1911. At that time Finland was still an autonomous Grand Duchy under Russia and for the construction of this public building the Finnish Senate had to request funding from the Czar…
